FREEZING WORKS DISPITE
Botchers* Employment Causes Stoppage ' f.Vetc Zeeland Ameiatim) NAPIER, April 2. A dispute ever the employment of butchers resulted ir a stoppage of work, involving 130 men at Swift <N-Z.i Company Ltd's freezing works in Wa;rca today. Almost al] the company's employees are affected. The stoppage followed meetings yesterday and this morning of members of the Wairoa branch of the Freezing Workers' Union. The company's Wairoa manager 'Mr F. H. Mardon* declined to comment on the dispute today. The union secretary Mr R. Tiinu' said the union objected to the company's action in employing butchers to do work normally done by boners, trimmers and boner labourers. Any attempt to bring butchers in. deprived boners and others of overtime. he said. This afternoon there was no sign of a settlement of the dispute.
