Hockey AUSTRALIANS TO TOUR N.Z.
(N.Z Press Association—Copyright)
MELBOURNE, April 1. An Australian hockey team to tour New Zealand in August and September will be chosen within the next few weeks. Leading players throughout Australia have been asked if they will be available to tour if chosen. The team will have to be selected mainly on last year s performances, and should be composed largely of proven players, including several members of the 1956 Olympic team. The New Zealand tour will start on August 2, the same day the Australian championship carnival starts at Perth.
For the first time, three test matches will be played in New Zealand instead of one.
In all the team will play about 22 matches in a little over six weeks, returning on September 16.
