BLUE-VEIN CHEESE

Exports To Australia (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 2. There were “excellent prospects” for the sale of New Zealand blue-vein dheese in Australia, said the general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company (Mr C. Cassels) on his return from Australia in the Monowai today. Mr Cassels said that when his company’s manufacturing plant came into production toward the end of this year Australian importers would take fully one-third of the output of 360 tons annually. This was more than twice t.s much as they were taking at present Mr Cassels said that although the New Zealand blue-vein cheese was still selling at slightly cheaper rates than the Continental varieties, he had been able to secure a “satisfactory” price increase. Australia could take more blue-vein cheese now, and other markets were developing. Production was at present limited bv the capacity of the plant, which was badly damaged by fire last year.
