FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation: An anti-cyclone is centred over the northeast Tasman Sea, and a westerly airstream is moving over the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury: Moderate to fresh north-westerlies inland, and light to moderate variable winds near the coast; weather fair; temperatures mild or warm. Outlook: fair and warm. West Coast: Moderate northerly winds; weather cloudy; some scattered rain in southern Westland; temperatures moderate. Outlook: occasional rain. Nelson and Marlborough: Fresh north-westerlies about Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate variable winds, northerlies or westerlies predominating; weather fair with mild or warm temperatures.
