Apartheid
Sir, —This is too serious an issue to be dealt with flippantly. Apartheid (significantly pro-, nounced “Apart-hate”> has split, what should be a happy, laugh-1 ing country rich in the blessings provided by a bountiful nature? into a police state split on the I colour question of white suprem- i acy; also split down the 40-601 mark of the white population. I ! have lived in the chaos of South Africa long enough to be dis- i gusted with what I saw there, i Most, of your readers would. I believe, feel likewise. Like the | Gadarene swine rushing headlong to the sea. so is South Africa, on its present interpretation of i apartheid, heading for doom The | Nationalists have often and , openly declared their intention of | becoming a republic separated from the Commonwealth. They should be kicked out of the Com-, monwealth now. before it suits them, in their own time, to leave it.—Yours, etc.. PRO-KIWI POM April 1, 1958.
