Canterbury May Get Test Match
The hope that Canterbury would be better treated in the matter of test matches against visiting teams in the future was expressed by the president of the Canterbury Football Association (Mr J. Smith) at its meeting last evening. Mr Smith reported on the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association where he had put forward Canterbury’s case for test matches. .He was advised that when the tour of the Spartak Jugoslaw team had been arranged, the excellent results oi the two games against the Chinese and Austrian teams in Christchurch had not been realised. Although Mj Smith did not think there would be any re-arrangement of the Jugoslav tour, he was hopeful that Canterbury would receive fairer treatment in the future.
