Report On Church Hall Rating
It was unreasonable that lodged should be obliged to pay rates on their halls when church halls were rate-free, said Cr. J. I. Colligan at a meeting of the Waimairi County Council. The lodges needed to hire their halls if they were to be able to pay their rates, and they were facing unfair competition from church halls which could be hired at a lower rental because no rates were paid on them, he said. On Cr. Colligan’s recommendation. a report will be prepared for the consideration of the finance committee.
