Recognition Of China
Sir, —Your leading article is typical of the smug attitude of conservatism that exists in this country. However, the crowning insult was the statement that China would have to win her way back to “respectability.” China is respected by millions in the world for her gallant struggle to throw out the forces of evil, including the pernicious attempt of the Americans to invade her country through Korea. There need be no illusions about that. The attempt was abortive, and now China has shown her real spirit by withdrawing her forces in Korea. “The Press" can write leading articles trying to throw doubts on this move, but the fact remains that it is in the interests of peace, something which China values.— Yours, etc.,, P.J.A.
