Lawn Tennis NUNNELEY CASKET CHALLENGE

The Nunneley Casket lawn tennis challenge match at Stanley street today between Auckland, the holder, and Canterbury produced much good play. Canterbury won two of the four singles and, though defeated with somewhat baffling ease in both of the doubles, is by no means out of the series, which is to be concluded tomorrow. Auckland won 4 rubbers to 2, 8 sets to 4, and 60 games to 42. Results: — Singles Mrs W. J. Tinnock beat Miss L. Luxton, 6-2, 6-4; Miss D. Taylor lost to Miss B. Nelson, 4-6, 1-6; Miss J. Glenie beat Miss K. Brander, 6-2, 6-1; Miss B. Bryant lost to Miss G. Hopkinson, 4-6, 2-6. Doubles Mrs (Tinnock and Miss Taylof beat Misses Hopkinson and Brander, 7-5, 6-1; Misses Glenie and Bryant beat Misses Luxton and Nelson, 6-0, 6-3.
