“VICTORY FOR SOCIALISM”

New Demand To Labour Party

(Rec. 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, March 21.

A demand that the next Labour Government should stop manufacturing hydrogen weapons simultaneously with prohibiting their use from British territory came from the newly-formed “Victory for Socialism” group last night.

The group, which includes nine Labour Members of Parliament, added, in a statement of aims tonight that the next Labour Government should also call a summit conference to negotiate on Labour’s peace proposals. It should be prepared to negotiate with the Soviet Union even if the United States rejected Britain’s ideas as a basis for negotiations. The group, which would like Britain alone to end bomb manufacture, and opposes missile bases in Britain, was recently summoned before the official Labour Party authorities to give assurances it was not attempting to create “a party within a party.”
