Tamarisk’s Good Mile Trial At Riccarton

Tamarisk, an Oamaru Cup candidate, was one of the best trialists over a bit of ground at Riccarton yesterday. Ridden by his race rider R. W. Gould, he led Motueka (G. W. Mein) over a mile on the No. 6 grass in Imin 48sec. After running his last three furlongs in 41 4-ssec he was a length ahead of his stablemate.

Tamarisk has raced solidly this summer. The last time he ran at Oamaru, in January, he was a close and fast-flnishing second to Motueka over one mile and a quarter. Hunt the Slipper (N. Eastwood) and Cill-Dara (C. T. Wilson) were paired over a mile. They recorded Imin 49 l-ssec and 40 3-ssec for the last three furlongs. Hunt the SHpper going keenly under a light weight. Hunt the Slipper, a last-start winner as a hurdler, is in the hinh-weipht at Oamaru.

Whiohau (A. J. Stokes) showed his fitness for the Oamaru Cup in his six-furlong trial with Kalan <T. Wilson) and Nugget (R. L. Browning). He was going well half a length ahead of the hacks at the end to record Imin 21 1-5 sec and 39 l-ssec for the last three furlongs. Whiohau is standing uo to racing and travelling and few should beat him at Opmaru.

Lucky Time (N Eastwood) and Summer’s End <C. T. Wilson) sprinted six furlongs in Imin 20sec. the last three in 39 2-ssec. T hev are rivq] candidates in the Redcastle Hark Handicap at Oamaru and Summer’s End is one of the last-start winners in the field.

Her Ex (R. B. Taggart) led Watch and Wait <C. T Wilson) over six furlongs in Imin 19 1-5 spc. the last three in 39sec. Her Ex showed high finishing sneed against sprinters at Waimate is a fit light-weight for the H*»ndicao. the serond leg of the double at Oamaru. Massive i'R. J. Blair) led Lightning Bov (R. L. well in his final trial for the Parkside Hack Handicap at Oamaru. He drew up near the end to finish six furlongs on terms with his stablemate Purser (R. W. Gould) in Imin 18 4-ssec, th 6 last three in 38 l-ssec. Rise and Shine (C. T. Wilson) was never near top while running six furlongs in Imin 22 3-5 sec, the final three in 38 l-ssec. She will make a fresh start at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. The stablemates. Post (D. J. Thistoll) and Super Tone (A. J. Stokes) sprinted six furlongs, the last three in 40 l-ssec. They will represent G. R. Felling’s stable in the Parkside Hack Handicap at Oamaru. Super Tone has not raced since November. Panda (N. Eastwood) led her stablemate Pack Drill (A. J. Stokes) by a length after an easy trial. They ran from the mile in Imin 52 4-ssec, quickening slightly to record 41 3-ssec for the last three furlongs.

Princess Neptune (W. McGregor) completed her work by running three furlongs in 38 4-5 Sec. One of her best gallops would give her a chance in the high-weight at Oamaru.

Waterfall (A. Stokes) sprinted her three furlongs in 40sec.

Pickard (D J. Thistoll) and Foxplav (P. Wilde) took 39 3-5 sec. time equalled by the two-year-olds Befana (L. McGuire) and In the Bag (W. Gibbs). The stablemates Kelbra <R. W. Gould' and Vivien Leigh (C. McDonald) ran seven furlongs on the plough in Imin 32 4-ssec, the last three in 39 3-ssec. They ran on terms from the start Antagonism (A. H. Eastwood) was sore after a trial with King Robin (W. Gibbs). They ran from the half mile in 50 2-ssec. and recorded 37 3-ssec for the final three furlongs.
