N.Z. MEAT FOR AMERICA
Seven Shipments Arranged
“The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, March 20.
Within the next two months seven shipments of meat, some of them large, will be carried in freighters and passenger liners scheduled to sail for the Pacific coast of America.
The first New Zealand Conference Lines freighter to engage in this trade is the Port Line ship, Port Alma, which is expected to take a big load of New Zealand meat when she sails for the west coast of America in the middle of May. The Magga Dan, a J. Lauritzen Lines ship, is due in Auckland on Friday to finish loading meat for Pacific coast ports, and the P. and O. passenger liner, Himalaya, will load meat for Honolulu. Vancouver, and San Francisco when she calls on Monday. The Matson liners, Monterey and Mariposa, which are due on April 8 and 13 respectively, will each take 300-ton shipments to Honolulu, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The Orient liners, Orsova. due on May 2, and Orcades. scheduled to arrive on May 30, will also take meat cargoes to these ports.
