University Mile Championship
The university mile championship, held recently, was won by D. Beauchamp (Engineering Faculty). Running in second place for much of the distance behind J. D. Macdonald, who ran fast in the early laps, he challenged decisively with 200' yards to go, and won comfortably by about 10 yards. Results were:—D. Beauchamp (Engineering) 1, J. D. Macdonald (Engineering) 2, S. J. Bernau (Science) 3. Time, 4min 19.8 sec.
In September, October, and November last year 7000 persons were found not to hold radio licences, the Post Office announced yesterday. They now all have licences, but the Post Office is still not satisfied that everyone who should have a licence has one, so the check is beginning all over again. Those found without a licence will have 48 hours in which to get one.—(P.A.)
