The president (Mr N. P. Ross, of Auckland) said yesterday that it had been a most successful and informative conference. Its main objective was the maintenance of the service given by pharmacy to the public. Through the central pharmacy advisory committee there was liaison with the Department of Health, four officers of which attended the conference. Subjects discussed included the improvement of dispensing techniques, and sterilisaI tion methods in the dispensary, more efficient stock control and stock taking and the preservation of the continuity of the supply of essential medicines under the drug tariff, in which the advice and guidance of the major manufacturing chemists who were represented at the conference was sought. Mr Ross said that, on behalf of the conference, he wished to thank the Canterbury division of the guild and its chairman (Mr C. S. Ell) for the hospitality extended.
