(New Zealand Preet Aeeodation) WELLINGTON. Match 19. A motion put forward to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that the managers, assistant managers and chaperons of New Zealand teams for future Empire and Olympic games should be chosen from representatives of sports included in the games has been deferred to the half-yearly meeting in September for final consideration.

In putting the motion, Mr C. A. Blazey said his association was not influenced by the selection of officer to travel to Cardiff this year. It felt, however, that men connected with the sports at the games were best qualified to control teams. Mr C. R. Moore, representing the New Zealand Swimming Association, was strongly opposed to the repeated election cf members of the Olympic association to the positions of team managers. Mr C. L. S. Cross, an Empire Games selector, said all the national associations were represented at executive meetings and they took part in the election of officials. He opposed the motion because restricting nominations to certain sports would probably prevent many able men from becoming team officials. An amendment was moved by Mr F. S. Ramson that officials for New Zealand teams should be appointed by a special committee, this committee should comprise a nominee from each of the national athletic, swimming and cycling associations and two appointees of the council The amendment was lost and a further amendment that the N.Z.A.A.A. motion be held over till September was carried.
