MORE DUMPED BUTTER

Supplies From Poland And Hungary

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 19.

Poland and Hungary may be added to the list of countries which New Zealand claims are dumping butter on the British market. An immediate investigation is to be made to see whether the prices in Britain for the Polish and Hungarian product market is below the domestic price.

A report issued earlier this week by the Dairy Products Marketing Commission states that relatively heavy supplies are going forward weekly and the price has been reduced during the last weelr. Polish butter is now selling at 218 s per cwt and Hungarian butter is fetching 222 s per cwt. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) said today that when New Zealand submitted her case on dumping she reserved the right to add information and to cite other countries. He had no official news about Polish and Hungarian butter blit this would certainly be available soon. “If on checking the price for the butter on the English market and that on the domestic market in these countries we can substantiate any claim of dumping we will certainly add the names of these two countries to our list together with relative information,’’ he said. Four countries are cited in New Zealand’s original protest. They are Finland, Sweden, Eire and Argentina.
