24-Hour Strike In Germany

(Rec. 11 p.m.) BONN, March 19. Public service and transport workers in almost the whole of West Germany today started a 24-hour warning strike to protest against delays in negotiating on demands by the Public Service and Transport Workers’ Union. Except in Hamburg, Bremen, and the Saarland, there are no trams, buses or trolley-buses operating. Dustmen are not making their rounds.

Gas, water and electricity plants are being worked on a Sunday basis with emergency crews.
