DRIVER KILLED

Car Hits Pole At Ellesmere The driver of a car which struck a telegraph pole at Chamberlains corner, on the Christ-church-Southbridge road near Ellesmere at 6.30 a.m. yesterday, died from his injuries. He was: Peter Maxwell Phillips, aged 26 ( years, a grocer’s assistant of Hororata. Mr Phillips apparently failed to take the sharp corner, about 1 half a mile from the Selwyn n bridge, and his car ran off the n road and hit the pole. The car was badly damaged. d Dr. W. A.
