MONEY NEEDED FOR HOUSING
Mr Fox Wants £som For Land (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS. March 16. This year the Government would probably need about £25 million for housing, said the Minister of Housing (Mr Fo?) yesterday when opening the Hastings parade of homes. He would like to have about £5O million to buy housing.land, he said. “One thing we must do is to keep up the construction rate of homes. And we need at least 20.000 of them a year if we are going to solve this' problem.” he said. The Government regarded the construction of homes as a social responsibility He contended that when a country had good homes, it had contented people, “which means that you can get maximum production.”
