Warning On Nuclear War Danger
t (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ( SYDNEY, March 9. A statement signed by 350 5 Australian scientists warning of ‘ the dangers of a nuclear war was 1 ( issued yesterday by Professor R. ’ B H. Thorp, Professor of Pharmacy - j at Sydney University. The scientists are from all over ! s Australia and represent almost _ every field of research. n Professor Thorp emphasised that d the scientists did not have any paticular political affiliations. - The scientists claimed 'that a 5 full-scale nuclear war would be an utter catastrophe. Even [’ countries not directly hit by bombs would suffer through global fall- _ out which under certain conditions e might be of such intensity as to v cause large scale genetic and other injuries, they said. r- The prompt suspension of n nuclear tests would be a good e first step in preventing a nuclear war, they said.
