Lawn Tennis Nunneley Casket Team

The Canterbury women’s tennis team to play Auckland for the Nunneley Casket at Auckland on March 21 and 22, was announced by the Canterbury Layvn Tennis Association Management Committee at its meeting last evening. Five players from which the final team would be selected were announced last week. The team is Miss B. Nelson, now living in Wellington, Miss L. Luxton (United), Miss G. Hopkinson (University) and Miss K. Brander (Elmwood). Miss D. Norrie (Avongide) will be the reserve. The team was selected by Messrs M. C. Healey, A. Hatch and Miss P. Cuddon. Miss Cuddon was appointed manager. Australian Juniors Invited To N.Z. Invitations to four Australian junior tennis players to visit New Zealand and enter in the national championships have been given by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, said the chairman of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association management committee (Mr G. E. Atkinson) last evening. He said the players would have to pay their fares to and from New Zealand, but their expenses in New Zealand would be paid by the association. The secretary (Mr G. F. Sheppard) was authorised to write to the New Zealand Association suggesting that the young Australian player, Miss M. Smith, also be invited to tour New Zealand.
