Military Training

Sir,—C.M.T. must remain an in-i stitution, like primary school. The training may change, as man. emerges into finer modes of thinking, and beside physical fitness, mental and moral fitness may be developed, too. A Latin saying, “Si vis pacem, para bellum,” is difficult and expensive to follow; we must not prepare war to have peace, but the population must be fit for meeting emergencies and to send trained individuals into the United Nation’s army if called upon. The Suez crisis subsided through its forceful action. “Individualist” should realise that compulsion is the only way with some individuals, who take the others’ efforts for granted while they sit back.—Yours, etc., KNOWLEDGE.
