CUSTOM WINS AT WYNDHAM Johnny Globe Handicap

The strong Canterbury contingent to contest the Johnny Globe Handicap, main event on the first day of the Wyndham Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday was routed in arough race. The winner was the little-fancied Custom, which secured a good run and held off the stablemates, Blue Emneror and Dilosga. Blue Emoeror, Dilossa and D smiss were checked at< the top of the straight. There was no inquiry into the incident and no mention of it was made in a report to the press from the'j stipendiary stewards.

The winning double, Custom and Aquaplane, returned £146 for £l.

The meeting was held, under ideal weather conditions, on a fast track. The attendance was fair. The totalisator turnover of £20,610 was down £6283 on the first day of last year’s meeting.

The electric totalisator operated in Southland for - the first .time.
