Croquet SHIELD MATCHES

The competition for the shields in ■ the Canterbury Croquet Association’s different grades has progressed j a step further.. The semi-flnals and finals, to be played soon, will bring the successful season for croquet in Canterbury to a close. Results were:— SENIOR St. James Park v. United No. 1 (St. James Park names first) ' Doubles.—Mrs W. H. Kirk and W. H. Kirk beat Mesdames T. G. Dick 1 and J. McCracken, 26-14: Mesdames •E. Todd and H. Lattaway lost to Mesdames C. Runaway Train

TWO RIVERS (Wisconsin), March 7. A runaway goods train with a diesel engine and seven trucks roared at 60 miles an hour through two towns and many open level crossings today before jumping the rails and crashing into a river, seven miles down the line. The crew was having breakfast and came back to find their, train gone.
