KAIAPOI BOROUGH VACANCY
Mr J. Condon To Be Labour Candidate
The Kalapoi branch of the New Zealand Labour Party has announced the name of its official candidate for the vacancy on the Kaiapoi Borough Council caused by the resignation of Mr N. E. Kirk, M.P. He is Mr J. Condon, aged 43, a contractor, who has lived in the district for a number of years and whose home is in the town. Mr Condon is married, with two children, and served throughout World War II in the Merchant Navy. He is an executive member of the Kaiapoi branch of the Returned Services’ Association. A keen gardener, he is a member of the Organic Composting Society of New Zealand and the New Zealand Geographic Society. Mr Condon takes a keen interest in local affairs, and the branch feels that his services will be of special value in the council’s port re-opening scheme.
