GOLD CUP EVENT Relegation At Napier

The Napier Gold Cup, first leg of the off-course double and the feature event at the Napier Park Racing Club’s meeting today ended in sensational fashion with the disqualification of the Awapuni- ? trained Camp Out at an inquiry after the race. Rover, which was second, was promoted to first. . A statement issued by the judicial committee said that Camp Out had weighed in at 7-7 after weighing out at 7-4 J, 4>eing half a pound above the 21b allowed by the rules. The double, Rover and Kaye Gilpin, paid £36 5s 6d. The totalisator on course handled £43,873, including £7403 on the offcourse double. There was no comparative day last year.
