R.N.Z.A.F.’s 21st ANNIVERSARY
Planes From Britain And Australia
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 7.
Wing Commander L. H. Trent, V.C., D.F.C., of Nelson, one of New Zealand’s most distinguished war-time pilots, would fly a Royal Air Force Valiant jet bomber to Ohakea for Air Force Day on March 29, the twentyfirst anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) said today. The Valiant, one of Britain’s “V” bomber force, is still on the secret list. “With two Hastings transports, it is part of the R.A.F.’s contribution to the programme,” said the Minister. “Australia will be represented by a Neptune twin-engined maritime reconnaissance aircraft, and three Canberra, jet bombers.
“The R.A.F.’s military band, a combination of world-wide renown. is also coming to New Zealand for Air Force Day.”
