Income Tax Rebate

Sir, —In describing his letter as “A tirade against the Labour Party,” “A.F.P.? is hardly fair to “Facts” who was just a bit “off the beam” as to facts in his answer to “Nearly Seventy.” “A.F.P.’s” letter today can be described as a “tirade against National.” His facts are right as to election offers, but the shame of the whole thing is that politicians on both sides should stoop so low as to offer such bribes to buy the electors’ votes. Those who fell for the bribes have little to be proud of. Money is not the only standard of value. I would draw attention to the motto under the coat of arms on the front page of “The Press.” It is over the door too, carved in stone. Me? I’m National of course.—Yours etc., B. CONSTANT. March 7, 1958.
