Fairy Prion
Sir, —A South Brighton friend, well acquainted with all marine life on Pegasus Bay, even up to the Waimakariri, showed me recently the most beautiful bird I have seen. It is a sea bird—he said it was the fairy prion. Its colouration was superb—a sort of kingfisher blue, but going into paler shades not even achieved by the kingfisher. Its webbed fept would be about the size of a shilling. The bird itself would be half as big again as a large thrush. It is now again over the sea. having being restored to its natural habitat, first through the finder and then through the enthusiast who took care of it.*— Yours, etc., BRIGHTONITE. March 7, 1958.
