FLOOR PRICE OF WOOL
Commission Buying In South Africa (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PRETORIA. March 6. The chairman of the South African Wool Board, Dr. Jan Moolman, said today that for the first time since the £8.000,000 wool stabilisation scheme was announced recently the board had intervened at Port Elizabeth wool sale Yesterday. It bought 125 bales of wool. The scheme fixes a price below which, in the opinion of the board it would be uneconomical for the farmer to produce wool. The scheme is based on the experience of the British Wool Commission during the war and the South African Wool Disposals Organisation. Its operation was also similar to the New Zealand Wool Commission, Mr Moolman said.
