Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) ADELAIDE, March'7. A decision will not be madi until a few uours before the race whether the New Zealand pace Uaduceus, will be able to con tinue in the Inter-DominiM Championships. Caduceus has been sufferigi from a bruised heel, and was eU amined today by the veterinary surgeon of the South Australian Trotting Club, Mr P. Irwin. Mr Irwin inspected the hone thoroughly and told the con* nexions that if Caduceus did race tomorrow night he would pull up sore. However, he advised the part-owner, Mr Dennii Moore, to give Caduceus a very solid trial tomorrow, and would inspect the horse mediately he pulled up. Mr Irwin will then make fail recommendation to the Souß Australian stewards on whetttf the horse should start. Caduceus had to be withdrawn from the second series last Wednesday because of the injury. H« has gained only three points so far in the championships, and tomorrow night is his last chance to qualify. He would have to gain fastest time in his heat—the third division—to have any chance of qualifying for the Grand Final on March 15. Caduceus is a firm favourftj for the third heat, which Is n® over 15 furlongs. Reports are brighter about the other New Zealand horses, FalM Step, and Gentry. Both are B the peak of condition for theg engagements. False Step today jogged around the Wayville track for a fasttf exercise. Gentry also did liwj exercise on the suburban trap of Weigall Oval. 1 False Step is favourite for t» second division at a slightly shorter quote than Gibelia, why Gentry is closely pressing Tawj inga for favouritism in the fl® l division.
