Support By Trade* Union Congress • LONDON, March Britain’s Trade Union Congress, tonight gave its support to .thfr. Labour Party’s official leaders,, who are resisting strident de--mands by mhny of their followers:.' for an immediate and uncondl«-» tional “ban the H-bomb” policy. o A joint meeting of trade unionand Labour chiefs —who included* Mr Aneurin Bevan—drew up (U new manifesto which firmly down the party lir> on H-bombfJ rocket missile bases, controlled*’ disarmament and “summit” talkg A with Russia. The main points of the manl--' festo —which will be the basis ofc a national campaign to explain the Labour policy, now confusea by internal party splits—are: (1) The British Government should immediately give other 1 * nations a lead by suspending, its own hydrogen weapon tests. (2) Simultaneously, the Govern-® ment should press for a gen- p eral agreement to end all tests, hydrogen and atomic, if neces- w sary. as a separate measure, distinct from any wider dis-, armament.
