HEALTH CAMP SUBSIDY
Cabinet Approves Increase (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 6. Cabinet approval of the payment of a subsidy to the Health Camps’ Federation was announced today by the Minister of Health (Mr Mason). He said the Government would subsidise £ for £ the net proceeds received by the federation, from the sale of health stamps. The federation would benefit by by about £35,000 a year. Mr Mason said that while the sale of health stamps from which the federation drew its main sources of income had been maintained, the cost of running and developing the camps had increased, and the federation had been forced to spend the reserves it had built up during the war. It had become apparent that unless financial assistance was given the federation, some health camps would have to close.
