INTERNATIONAL BOARD
N.Z. Representative Congratulated (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 17. Mr C. S. Hogg was congratulated by executive members of the New Zealand Rugby Union this evening on the able manner in which he had represented New Zealand at the recent meeting of the International Board in London. It had been unique in the history of the board for the New Zealand delegate to act as chairman, and Mr Hogg had brought credit to his country for his efficient direction of the meetings, said Mr J. W. Millard. Mr Hogg said he had been present at the England-Wales and EnglandAustralia matches. His impression was that the British team which will come to New Zealand in 1959 would be very strong in the backs. Given the opportunity, they should play very attractive football. “I think that the New Zealand backs will at least hold their own, but from a mental comparison I consider oiir forwards are better than those I saw at Twickenham.” He said that Mr W. J. Falvey, who had refereed in Wellington and Canterbury had had control of a number of the bigger matches in London was well thought of as a referee. He had at Twickenham, but not in an international match.
