ATOM-FREE ZONE PLAN
WARSAW, February 14.
The Ambassadors of Britain, France, the United States and Russia were called separately to the Polish Foreign Ministry today to receive further details of the Polish plan for a four-nation atomfree zone in Central Europe. The Envoys of Denmark, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia and East Germany also visited the Ministry at the request of the Foreign " Minister, Mr Adam Rapacki. Embassy spokesmen were silent on the substance of the talks, but it is believed that the ambassadors were given details of a control system for the proposed atom-free zone. This was the subject of a recent meeting in Moscow between Mr Rapacki and the Soviet Foreign Minister, Mr Andrei Gromyko. The Polish plan for an atomfree zone embracing Poland, Czechoslovakia and East and West Germany, has been co-ordinated with other members of the Warsaw Pact.
One of the chief Western objections so far voiced against the plan has been the difficulty of establishing efficient control arrangements.
