‘Opportunity’ For Liberal Party

(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 15. The Liberal Party Council today passed a resolution with a big majority demanding that the largest possible number of candidates should be put in the field at the next General Election. The resolution said that the council considered the next General Election, in 1960. would provide the Liberal Party with its “finest opportunity for 30 years.” Council members were holding their quarterly meeting two days after the Rochdale by-election in which the Liberals polled second, with 17,600 votes, against the Conservative candidate’s 9827 votes.
