The Jordan Foreign Ministry today notified all foreign and Arab States and Jordan embassies and legations abroad of the establishment yesterday of the new Arab Federal State of Jordan and Iraq. c A Government spokesman said that the Government also handed over to foreign diplomats in Amman copies of the federation agreement signed yesterday by King Hussein and King Feisal of Iraq. In Cairo today, President Shukri El Kuwatly of Syria said in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper “Al Akhbar,” that he believed Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria would soon join “a United Arab Republic Federation.” The President, who was commenting on the proclamation yesterday of a United IraqiJordanian State, said: “This is not a forecast. I am telling you the news of tomorrow.” The President also said thaj a federation was the best means of “keeping the monarchs on their thrones.” ‘

The Cairo newspaper, “Al Ahram,” said today that a prominent feature of the IraqiJordanian federation was the fact that “the Iraqi Army is on its way to Israel’s border.” Yemen Agreement A Yemeni official source said today that a draft agreement for Yemen’s federation with the United Arab Republic formed by Egypt and Syria was being prepared for a final meeting tomorrow between the two sides. Meanwhile the Saudi Arabian Minister of State and United Nations Affairs, Mr Ahmed Shukeiry, has had talks in Cairo with the Syrian Foreign Minister, Mr Salah Bitar and Egyptian officials. According to a report received in Aden today, Yemeni troops and irregulars heavily attacked the fort of Sanah in the Western Aden protectorate yesterday. An official communique said that the Government guards at the fort, which is in the amirate of Dahala, beat off the attack in a battle lasting for two hours. The communique said that the troops crossed the frontier in the neighbourhood of Qataba, in the Yemen.
