New Women’s Discus Record
(Neu> Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 16. Miss Jennifer Thompson, a 19-year-old student-teacher from Otorohanga. broke Miss Yvette Williams’ national discus record and established herself a candidate for the Empire Games team during the Waikato athletics championship yesterday. Miss Thompson’s best throw was 155 ft lO’.fein —4ft 4%in better than Miss Williams’ mark. She also had another throw of 152 ft 9in. Her best throw was against a tricky wind which turned the discus over several times.
