DUKE TO OPEN GAMES
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 20. The Duke of Edinburgh will open the sixth British Empire and Commonwealth Games at Cardiff, Wales, on Friday, July 18, Buckingham Palace announced today. £ \ - On Tuesday, July 22, he will attend the rowing events at Lake Padarn in North Wales. The Duke will also watch the Games at Cardiff the next day, Wednesday, and with the Queen he will attend on the final day. Saturday, July 26.
Britannias Claim Air Record
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 20. El Al (Israel) Airlines claimed today that her Britannia turboprop airliners now hold both the West and the Eastbound transAtlantic records between London and New York. London headquarters of the airline said that one of its Britannias recently introduced on the Atlantic route flew from London to New York last night in 10 hours —or 19 minutes faster than the previous record set up last March by Pan American. The Britannia carried 50 passengers and crew and one ton of freight It was flown by Captain T. Jones, who flew an El Al Britannia from New York to London in record time on January 9.
NASSAU STRIKE
NASSAU (Bahamas), Jan. 20. Negotiations to break the nineday general strike which is paralysing Nassau were still deadlocked today. Both parties to the taxi companies dispute, which led to the general walk-out, are to see the Governor (Sir Raynor Arthur) later today.
