Benaud’s 72nd Wicket Of Tour (Rec. 7 p.m.) PIETERMARITZBURG, Jan. 20. . Australia’s spin bowler, Richie Benaud, with 72 wickets, bids fair 1 to beat the Englishman’s, Sidney , Barnes, record of 104 wickets for an t international tour of South Africa. . Benaud is now only 23 wickets short of O’Reilly’s Australian record of 95 wickets for the South African tour , made in 1935-36. [ Benaud took five for 71 in Natal’s first innings of 288 today, leaving it 301 behind the Australians* first in- ’ nlngs total of 589. Craig will en- : force a follow-on in the final day’s > play tomorrow, and Benaud will have that innings and another six first class matches in which to set ’ new bowling figures for a touring * side. The wicket is still playing easily, and Benaud and the Australians may have a hard task in dismissing Natal. "I’m after 'Tiger’s* record.
