HILL AND PLUMMER IN LIQUIDATION
(New Zealand Pres» Association) AUCKLAND, January 21. Shareholders of Hill and Plummer, Ltd., formally approved of the company going into voluntary liquidation at an extraordinary meeting today. Mr H. Steen, public accountant, of Auckland, was appointed liquidator. Last August, shareholders accepted an offer by Taubmans Industries, Ltd., Sydney, for the company’s 50 per cent, share in Hill and Plummer (Merchants), Ltd., and for the Federal street building, and in November the directors announced that the Queen street building had been sold “highly advantageous price.” It was stated then that the liquidation value of the shares would be more than <2 IM
Hide and' aheepskin Sale.—Abattoir ox hide, eased at the fortnightly Auckland auction yesterday, and the top price of Mid per lb was the lowest since last April. In contrast, country butchers* ox (which were offered in reduced quantities at the previous sale) and farmers' ox hides rose id and Id per lb respectively. At 231 d -the top-priced country butchers' yearlings were at their best since May last year. There was a smaller offering of salted sheepskins, and, apart from pelts, which were unchanged, other .lots were down by 3d or fid a skin. Quarter wools made Us 3d, half wools 16s od, and three-quarter wools 20s.— (PA.)
