EARTHQUAKE IN ECUADOR
(Rec. 9 p.m.) QUITO (Ecuador), January 19. Twelve persons were killed and 45 injured in an earthquake today at Esmeraldas, in northwestern Ecuador, according to information reaching Quito today. Quito, the capital, also was shaken by the earthquake. However, there were no injuries or damage in Quito. Aircraft passengers arriving al Guayaquil from Esmeraldas said the walls of the city hall were split by the earthquake, and many oldowooden houses were damaged One of them fell and killed five persons inside, the travellers •aid.
