U.S. DESTROYERS AT AUCKLAND

(New Zealand Press Association/ AUCKLAND, January 20. After a high-speed dash across the Pacific—an average of 24 knots from Samoa—four American destroyers, with 1000 officers and men, arrived at Auckland this morning for a four-day goodwill visit, before taking up patrol duties in the Western Pacific. The ships are the Harry E. Hubbard, Walke, and the Ernest G. Small. All are veterans of the war, and two are wearirtg on the side of their bridges the insignia of the Purple Heart, signifying serious odaifiage in action. The commodore of the divison (Captain G W. Albin) has thrown the ships open to visitors.
