A strongroom door was blown open, a small safe removed and an attempt made to open two larger safes. A wheelbarrow from the shop’s stock was evidently used to remove the small safe. When the robbery was discovered at 8 a.m vesterday a coil of rope and a cushion were found on a stool, possibly used to smother the sound of the explosion. Investigations are being made by 1. Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson of the Christchurch CXD.
