ANODISED METAL BUTTONS

No Polishing Needed

Colour anodised aluminium buttons which retain their brilliant finish permanently without oolishing are being manufactured in Australia and have been adopted by the Australian Army accordin? to a recent issue of Austral News. They are now available for export.

These buttons are a revolutionary advance upon the traditional types of metal buttons. They are considered to be particularly suitable for use in tropical or humid climates The use of aluminium is the only major change to occur in button making for over 100 years. The old type metal button was made of brass, gilding metal or nickel silver and sometimes plated' Being hollow, they were subject to crushing, their shanks worked loose ’with use and they reouired constant polishing. The new aluminium button is solid and will not crush, with the shank forming an integral part of the construction. The anodising process in effect colours the metal itself in a brilliant finish so that the appearance will not fade or tarnish and never needs polishing. Any colour effect, such as that of gold, brass or silver, can be achieved with a perfect finish. They are suitable also for use by such services as police, public transport, fire brigades, prisons, air lines, shipping companies hotels and, in fact, in any avenue where uniforms aig worn.
