APPOINTMENT AT GREYMOUTH
Technical School Principal Mr P. A. Muirhead, first aMtat. ant at the Shirley Boy,’ School, has been appointed wS, cipal of the Greymouth TeeMfra High School. Born in Oamaru, Mr Muirhara was educated at the North primary school and n. Waitaki Boys' High School, g, was trained at the Dunedin ud Christchurch Teachers’ Trataku Colleges and graduated Mastw J Arts from Canterbury Univenttr College in 1938. He later galiut his Diploma of Education. Mr Muirhead first taught at Um Addington primary school big transferred later to secongan school teaching. From 1937 until 1939 he taught at the Hokfikt District High School before spans, ing two years on the staff oftfe, Indian Secondary School at Lautoka, Fiji. The Second World War interrupted his teaching career tad from 1942 to 1946 Mr Muirhead served in New Zealand and overseas, mainly in the Middle East On his return, he was appointed to the staff of the Christchareh Boys' High School where he taaght for nearly seven years. In INI he was appointed head of departnjent in English and social studies at the then newly-constructed Linwood High School. When the Shirley Boys’ High School was built, Mr Muirhead was appointed first assistant on the staff. His appointment to the Greymouth Technical High School ie his first principalship. Mr Muirhead will take the position of the late Mr A. E. Coxos, who died last year.
