17,000 VACANCIES LAST OCTOBER
At the end of last November the Department of Labour and Employment had been advised of 8538 vacancies in industry throughout New Zealand. By no means all vacancies were notified and the department tends to hear of more in some sections of industry than others. Employment returns in October showed that there were more than 17,000 vacancies throughout the country. This table shows a selection of occupations or occupation groups and the number of notified vacancies at November 30. Adults include skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
