Fourteen Feet Of Rain More than 14ft of rain fell at Bainham in Golden Bay during 1957. The exact figure was 170.50 inches. Witnesses Not Needed Five New Zealand witnesses who had been asked by the United States Navy to go to Japan this month to testify in a general court-martial before which a negro sailor was to face a charge of unpremeditated murder have been advised that they will not now be required. A.) Damaged Icebreaker The United States Navy icebreaker Glacier arrived at Wellington yesterday and berthed at the floating dock wharf. She damaged both her propellers in the Antarctic, and is at Wellington for repairs. The Glacier left Lyttelton about two months ago and went to the Ross ice barrier, where she broke a passage through the sea ice for the store ship Greenville Victory. She then sailed to McMurdo Sound, where she smashed through the ice to enable the tanker Nespelen to get within three miles of the base to pump ashore supplies of fuel. It was while in McMurdo Sound that the Glacier damaged her propellers. < Search For Vessel RJ'J.Z.A.F. Sunderlands returning from Hobsonville to Lauthala Bay, Fiji, have been diverted to search for the 62ft motor-vessel Yatulau, which has been missing since a hurricane struck part of the Fiji group three days ago. The Sunderlands had themselves been flown to Auckland suddenly on Monday night from Fiji in case of damage if they remained in exposed anchorages at Lauthala Bay.
