PERMITS FOR BUILDING
December Figures
Fewer building permits were issued by the Christchurch City Council last month than were issued in December, 1956, and the value of the permits was 233,451, a decrease of £108,364 on December, 1956. A big decrease in the number of permits issued was shown in the Linwood ward. There were 39 permits in December, 1957, compared with 64 in December, 1956. The St. Albans ward has the biggest number of permits for the year—634—with Linwood second with 565. Detailed figures are:—
