The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board announces the following schedule prices assessed by meat operators for the highest grades in each class of meat and payable in the South Island for the week ending January 11, 1958: Lamb, 281 b and under, 24d; lamb, 29 to 361 b, 22d; hoggets, 481 b and under, 14Jd; wether, 481 b and under. 13Jd; ewes, 481 b and under, 5%d. Frozen baby ox beef, under 6401 b, 80s; frozen baby heifer beef, under 6401 b, 72s 6d; ox beef, g.a.q., under 8001 b, 80s; heifer beef, g.a.q., under 8001 b, 72s 6d; cow beef, g.a.q., 655; boner cow beef, 955; boner bull beei. 100 s.

Quotations for beef are at per 1001 b and the remainder at per lb. Wether and hoggets schedules are based on lib wool pull, ewe schedules on V 2 lb wool pull. There were no deficiency payments for the period.

Butter Prices.—Danish butter on the United Kingdom market was reduced on Monday afternoon by 18s to 267 s per cwt, c.iX, reports the New Zealand Dairy Products Marketing Commission, New Zealand remained at 2605, ex store, and there were some small changes in the prices for other origins. New Zealand finest white cheese is still quoted at 131 s, ex store, at which price there was a good trade last week. There was also a ready sale of New Zealand coloured cheese, which opened on Monday at 1965, ex store. United Kingdom produced Cheddars were quoted at 135 s to 140 s Tallow.—C.i.f. quotations on the London tallow market on January 3, with figures for December 20 in parenthesis, were: good colour mixed. £B2 10s to £B3 (£83); good gut, £76 10s (same); edible mutton, £77 (same); edible beef, £B3 (£B2 to £B3).
